Ministry of External Affairs vide its order dated 28.05.2021, Suspended the Operations of POPSKs (Post office Passport Seva Kendra) till 04.06.2021 in the wake of Spread of COVID-19
1. In the wake of prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country, various State Govt Authorities have been issuing orders from time to time to contain spread of COVID-19 by invoking lockdown or restricting the activities or closing offices etc.
2. Earlier, the Ministry had taken precautionary measures and suspended operations at POPSKs in the country until 28.05.2021 and even suspended the operations in the PSKs (Passport Seva Kendra) and Back offices complying with Local administration's order.
3. As you are aware that maximum states are in a state of complete lockdown till 31May 2021. Most of them may be further extended as per situation, which are done at last moment. Moreover, Verification officers who have returned to PSKs will require few days to go back to POPSKs even if situation improves.
4. In view of above, the competent authority has decided to extend the Suspension of operations at POPSKs (Post office Passport Seva Kendra) until 04.06.2021. However, the commencement of Operations at POPSKs, in future will be decided in consultation with Department of Posts.
